Medicare Advantage Adjustment Will Increase Funding

Texas governor and other republicans falsely claim Biden is cutting Medicare when in reality, he's increasing payments to Medicare Advantage companies.

"Despite the base payment reduction, Medicare Advantage plans are projected to receive a net payment increase of 3.7 percent, equivalent to $16 billion, once risk adjustments are applied."

Trump Promises to Permanently Defund Medicare and Social Security

August, 2020 - WAPO  headline:  "Trump promises permanent cut to payroll tax funding Social Security and Medicare if he’s reelected"

"President Trump pledged on Saturday to pursue a permanent cut to the
payroll taxes that fund Social Security and Medicare if he wins
reelection in November . . . "

When the rapist felon says he's going to be a dictator, BELIEVE him. When he says he's going to permanently defund SS and Medicare, BELIEVE him.

Medicare Is a Great Deal!

Jajski
that is no solution. Medicare isn't free, it's expensive

Someone challenged Jajski to find an insurance plan for a 64 year-old that has an 80/20 split; a $185 deductible; and comes in at or less than $135/month. Neither she nor anyone else could find one. Medicare is a GREAT deal.

Cinders: Medicare isn't really confusing at all. One part is for hospital; one part is for services; one part is for prescriptions.

Here's how it is, Dino. You know, your pals know, and I know that Medicare is a GREAT deal.

You know, I know, and your pals know you will JUMP at the opportunity to get in on it.

You know, I know, and your pals know you lack the integrity to admit LBJ did us all a BIG favor by pushing it through congress.

Raise the cap on taxable income. Expand Medicare to all. No, they will not go bust if we fund them.

What is your answer funding health and public pensions? The various trusts will all go bust   eventually without reform.

Starve the Beast

Why pass a massive tax cut when employment is high and unemployment are low? Bruce Bartlett, former domestic policy adviser to President Ronald Reagan explains. From "The Washington Post":

"Because for decades, conservative intellectuals have pushed for big tax cuts; less to grow the economy and more because they want to “starve the beast.” They want to force a major overall spending cut that would be a political non-starter without first passing a tax cut that creates a deficit so large, something must be done about it. Spending cuts must be enacted, then, as they would be presented as the only way to pay for the already passed tax cut’s lost revenue."

Romney Considering Cutting Benefits for Seniors.

From TPM:

Avik Roy, an outside health care adviser to the Romney campaign, admits that committing to billions of dollars in higher Medicare spending in the near-term will make it difficult for Romney to achieve its separate goal of reducing overall federal spending to modern lows. But he notes that Romney could make up the difference elsewhere in the budget or, by “mak[ing] other changes to the Medicare program, such as increased means-testing, that don’t alter the program’s basic structure.”

Further means-testing of Medicare would amount to a benefit cut to current seniors.
