POLINC
More people hate Obamacare now than when it was passed.

Unfortunately, though, polling has its limits. And few things demonstrate this more than the recession question.
The recession question, as you might or might not presume, is asking people whether or not the United States is currently in a recession. It is not, but a very strong majority of people regularly say that it is -- and it's been that way for years.
Case in point: A new Public Religion Research Institute poll, which shows a whopping 72 percent of people think we are still in an economic recession.
In terms of risk-rated subsidies, in a law that said health people
are gonna pay in — if it made explicit that healthy people are gonna
pay in, sick people get money, it would not have passed. Okay — just
like the … people — transperen— lack of transparency is a huge political
advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter
or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical to get
anything to pass.

Thousands of consumers who were granted a reprieve to keep insurance plans that do not meet the federal health law’s standards are now learning those plans will be discontinued at year’s end, and they will have to choose a new, possibly more costly policy.
[...]
One reason behind the switch is that insurers determined they can make more money selling plans that comply with the Affordable Care Act, often at higher premiums that may be subsidized by the government.
“They’re getting a lot more revenue, often for the same person,” said consultant Robert Laszewski, a former insurance executive.
Last year, similar cancellation letters sent to more than 2 million customers created a political firestorm for President Obama, who had promised that “if you like the plan you have, you can keep it.”

Two months after the President's
address to Congress, Vice President Dick Cheney appeared on NBC's ''Meet
the Press'' and went further than the president in alleging Saddam
Hussein's nuclear weapons program.
''He's had years to get
good at it and we know he has been absolutely devoted to trying to
acquire nuclear weapons. And we believe he has, in fact, reconstituted
nuclear weapons,'' Cheney said.
doss The republicans know --- if they pass extremist legislation, President Obama will veto it; and voters will be GLAD there is a Democrat in the WH. They know too -- if they pass responsible legislation, President Obama will sign it; and the voters will be glad there was a Democrat in the WH to FORCE the republicans to be reasonable. So, bottom line is -- republicans are fucked either way. |
