Some ask, "Why was Rachel Mitchell removed from questioning Kavanaugh during the Senate Judiciary hearing on September 27, 2018?"
We don't know for sure WHY the republicans broke from the procedure Grassley had promised they would use (Five minutes to a Democrat; then five minutes to Rachel Mitchell). We DO know, though, what happened just before they abandoned their plan.
She was removed IMMEDIATELY after eliciting the incriminating admission from Kavanaugh that his calendar DID show he attended EXACTLY the kind of gathering he'd DENIED under oath of ever having attended.
That was the LAST round of questioning she was allowed to conduct. It certainly looked like the goppers fired her because rather than nuking Ford's testimony, she was BOLSTERING and supporting it.
