Trump supporters all share five psychological characteristics.
1. Authoritarian Personality Syndrome
These are people who do not question authority and believe they must be
led by someone else. They are generally fearful people.
2. Social Dominance Orientation
These are people who favor a rigid hierarchy in society - often adopting
the attitude of, ''If he is rich, then he is smart, and if he is smart, he
must be obeyed.''
3. Prejudice
This one is obvious. Prejudice against minorities, women, immigrants,
etc.
4. Intergroup Contact
In areas where there is a high concentration of white voters who rarely,
if ever, have contact with people outside their social groups, support
for Trump is the strongest. Whites who live in near all white
neighborhoods, for instance, and who rarely venture outside their
''comfort zone.''
5. Relative Deprivation
These are people who feel very strongly that they've been deprived of
something they deserve, and blame ''those people'' or ''them'' for their
suffering. ''I would have gotten that job except they hired a minority
for unfair reasons,'' etc.
