Hastert on Drugs

Dennis Hastert must have failed Econ 101. His recent smear against George Soros on Fox News Sunday proves that beyond doubt. The Speaker of the House, you've probably heard by now, came up with an unusual charge against George Soros, no doubt completely unrelated to Mr. Soros's efforts to upend the President's reelection hopes. Here are two gems from the show:
HASTERT: "You know, I don't know where George Soros gets his money. I don't know where—if it comes overseas or from drug groups or where it comes from.



WALLACE: Excuse me?"



HASTERT: "Well, that's what he's been for a number years—George Soros has been for legalizing drugs in this country. So, I mean, he's got a lot of ancillary interests out there."
Those of us who didn't sleep through introductory Econ know that the drug lords want to keep drugs illegal. That's what keeps the prices up. If drugs were legalized, prices would drop through the floor and the huge profits would disappear. Hastert's idiocy reveals his actual motive - perpetrating a second rate smear...
