Nixon and Ford had two recessions; the second one lasting 16 months; Carter's, at 6 month's, was the shortest recession since we started keeping records on such things. Then there was Reagan's recession, which matches Nixon and Ford's long one at 16 months; Daddy Bush's was an 8 month recession. And Clinton's lasted ..... oh wait... there was no Clinton recession.
Then Dubya came in and he gave us not one, BUT TWO, recessions; together totaling 24 months, and the last one being dubbed "The Great Recession." - http://www.nber.org/cycles.html

The ONE that happened on a Democrat's watch was the shortest since economists started keeping records on such things.
