We once sent a UAW time and motion analyst in to watch a minimum wage convenience store clerk for 2 hours.
He came out shaking his head.
He said there isn't a job in that entire auto manufacturing plant that requires anyone work half as hard, fast, and consistently as that clerk's job required.
Republians have been arguing for years that paying these low level workers more is bad for business.
Suddenly Walmart sticks it's thumb in their eye by giving raises voluntarily.
So much for the argument that wage hikes are bad for business.

Hanging up clothes or checking out a customer is 'hard work,' for some. For the rest it is hardly working.

$15 an hour for dragging merchandise thru a scanner or for flipping burgers?
Yeah, I'd say that's free money . . .
