Reflections
Conservatives Hardwired for Fear
We may think we vote in line with out economic interests and social
values, but our politics may be driven largely by our biological makeup.
University of Nebraska researchers measured how aroused the nervous
systems of highly conservative and liberal voters became while they
viewed positive images, such as pictures of babies or cute animals, and
negative scenes featuring car wrecks or fearsome insects. The conservatives showed greater interest in negative images, while liberals responded more strongly to positive ones.
When researchers showed both groups collages that intermingled positive
and negative images while tracking their eye movements, they found that
conservatives focused on the more alarming material. Even on a
physiological level, conservatives appear to spend more energy
“monitoring things that make them feel uncomfortable,” psychologist Mike
Dodd tells LiveScience.com.
That may make them more receptive to campaigns that stress their fears,
while liberals are more drawn to hopeful plans for the future.
“It’s amazing the extent to which they perceive the world differently,”
said political scientist John Hibbing, who helped design the study.

Romney Considering Cutting Benefits for Seniors.
From TPM:
Avik Roy, an outside health care adviser to the Romney campaign, admits that committing to billions of dollars in higher Medicare spending in the near-term will make it difficult for Romney to achieve its separate goal of reducing overall federal spending to modern lows. But he notes that Romney could make up the difference elsewhere in the budget or, by “mak[ing] other changes to the Medicare program, such as increased means-testing, that don’t alter the program’s basic structure.”
Further means-testing of Medicare would amount to a benefit cut to current seniors.

dosset..hmmm..well
since this is 'now' I'd have to say that 'now' 9.2 is worse than anything under
Reagan...
Just
for the record, unemployment hit 10.8% under Reagan, which to those who KNOW
that trees do NOT produce ozone, is WORSE than 9.2%.

Letter to the Bishop
''Dear
Bishop - I'm really really steamed at a certain chatter who doesn't believe
that birds are mammals. I'd like you to have a stern talking to him. He goes by
the handle doss, and we hate him because he's always tricking us with questions
that make us feel uncomfortable. Just wanted you to know that one of your
''ministers'' is upsetting a lot of right wingers, and we don't appreciate it
one bit.'' - Signed A Pissed Off Right Winger

Low-Effort Thinking
More on the way conservatives think.
"Conservatives and liberals don't seem to agree about much, and they might not agree about recent studies linking conservatism to low intelligence and "low-effort" thinking.
As The Huffington Post reported in February, a study published in the journal "Psychological Science" showed that children who score low on intelligence tests gravitate toward socially conservative political views in adulthood--perhaps because conservative ideologies stress "structure and order" that make it easier to understand a complicated world.
Ouch."

Bush Changed Deportation Policy Too
Bush set deportation by order too.

I don't remember a single right winger complaining
"Federal authorities lack the resources to expel all of the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants living in this country. Given that fact, it makes sense to set priorities and use prosecutorial discretion to decide who should be targeted for deportation. Previous presidents have exercised such discretion to temporarily stave off deportation of immigrants or to set enforcement priorities. In 2007, for instance, President George W. Bush halted the deportations of Liberians, whose country was emerging from a civil war."

Romney Opposes Huge Budget Cuts
Romney not so keen on cutting the budget after all.
"Well because, if you take a trillion dollars for instance, out
of the first year of the federal budget, that would shrink GDP over 5%.
That is by definition throwing us into recession or depression. So I’m not going to do that . . . "

No Iraq/Al Qaida Link
Right wingers STILL claim Saddam was behind the 9/11 attacks and was working with al Qaida. They ignore the facts. According to a Pentagon-sponsored study, it just didn't happen.
"WASHINGTON — An exhaustive review of more than 600,000 Iraqi documents that were captured after the 2003 U.S. invasion has found no evidence that Saddam Hussein's regime had any operational links with Osama bin Laden's al Qaida terrorist network.

Conservative Brain - Fear Centers
Study reveals that conservative brains have larger "fear center" than the brains of progressives.
"A study at University College London in the UK has found that conservatives’ brains have larger amygdalas than the brains of liberals. Amygdalas are responsible for fear and other “primitive” emotions. At the same time, conservatives’ brains were also found to have a smaller anterior cingulate — the part of the brain responsible for courage and optimism."

Republicans Say THEY Deserve the Credit
As long as the nation continued the precipitous slide in employment handed us by Bush, the republicans were eager to blame Obama.
Now that his policies are reversing the Bush depression, the REPUBLICANS want the credit for the improvements even though they fought Obama every step of the way.
Now that his policies are reversing the Bush depression, the REPUBLICANS want the credit for the improvements even though they fought Obama every step of the way.
"Virginia Governor and Mitt Romney surrogate Bob McDonnell (R) on Sunday floated what may turn into a Republican talking point if the economy continues to improve: It wasn’t President Obama who made it happen, it was the GOP governors.
“Look, I’m glad the economy is starting to recover, but I think it’s because of what Republican governors are doing in their states, not because of the president,” McDonnell said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”"

Market Place of Ideas
This is a market place of ideas. You expressed your notion that MSNBC is biased. I challenged you to show this bias because I suspect you don't really know what you're talking about.
It's how ideas are scrutinized in the free market. When people offer up ideas, and then REFUSE to engage in a discussion of them, including SCRUTINY of them, then those ideas are suspect.
